Herbal medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine which is prepared exclusively from medicinal herbs and plants. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) estimation, around 80% of the population is some Asian and African countries use herbal medicine for primary health care as it is more economical. The herbal treatment method is also been used as remedies for chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, asthma, and end-stage renal diseases. Herbal remedies are of increasing demand in European countries. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 25% of modern drugs used in the United States have been derived from plants. Siddha is originated from the ancient Vedic writings of Tamil culture written on palm leaf manuscripts. Siddha follows some procedures along with the medication such as intense yogic practices and periodic fasting and meditation. Recent studies prove that various herbals from Siddha have potential anti-oxidant and antimicrobial properties. Even the latest research evidence shows that Siddha medicine is capable of treating cervical cancer. Unani was introduced by 13th century during the Mughal rule in India. According to Unani, treatment of any disease depends on the right diagnosis of the disease and provide suitable treatment. There are several universities in India, Pakistan and South Africa providing Unani degree courses. The treatment procedure of Unani medicine includes regimental therapy apart from the naturally derived medicine which eliminates toxic agents and cleanses the system. Some herbs from Unani medicine is found to possess properties like anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and enzyme inhibitory activities. Recent clinical studies prove that Unani medicine is effective in treating women suffering from infertility issues caused due to obesity and polycystic ovary disorder. Track 12: Japanese Traditional Medicine - Kampo
The Japanese Traditional Medicine otherwise called as Kampo has its drug formulation dates back by more than 1500 years. Recent decades have seen a revival of Kampo medicine in medical practice, accompanied by a scientific reevaluation and critical examination of its relevance in modern health care. Traditional herbal medicine has been gradually reemerged and 148 different herbal extract formulations are found in the National Health Insurance drug list. As a result of the recent study, Kampo proves to provide effective treatment to dementia and other refractory diseases. Kampo also proves to improve cognitive function. It is also found that Kampo medicine is effective in treating liver disease and gastrointestinal disorder.

The origin of Korean Traditional Medicine traces back to 3000 B.C and it is traditional East Asian Medicine. Korean Traditional Medicine is mostly associated with Chinese traditional medicine and Japanese traditional medicine. The Korean Traditional Medicine emphasizes that the balance between the mind and body is the key requirement to maintain good health. Even though the traditional medicine has several years of history, it has various ethical issues which needs to be addressed for Global recognition. There are some quality issues pertaining in harvesting, collecting, handling and production of herbal and other traditional medicine that has to be looked out for improvement of standards. Further research and development is needed on dosage, production techniques, mode of action of the traditional medicine. Also the clinical trials of the medicine is important to understand the safety and efficacy before being recommended to the World market.
